Knoxville, Tenn. - The Sea Ray® 230 Select is destined to be a big hit once again in 2008. This popular, executive-class model is a staggering combination of smart design and precision performance. From stem to stern, the 230 Select is a proven powerhouse of the Select Series fleet. It features everything you've come to expect from Sea Ray, plus a wee bit more to drool over.
"The 230 is certain to capture a lot of attention in the coming year," says Robin Brendle, vice president of sport boat sales at Sea Ray. "It'll turn a few heads and then some. It's sleek and stylish, yet accommodating. This is a tidy sport boat that packs a wallop, an extreme machine loaded with sought-after bells and whistles that only add to its allure."
Starting aft and working forward, the 230 is an obliging and robust performer. The waterway giddy-up comes from a very manageable herd of engine choices ranging from the standard 5.0L MPI Bravo® III (260 hp) up to a MX6.2 MPI Bravo® III Digital Throttle and Shift standard (320 hp).
The cockpit is clean, well organized and includes a custom, soft-touch dash and SmartCraft® instrumentation. Fancy some on-board tunage? No problem. The Clarion® 12V AM/FM single CD stereo with antenna, MP3 port, subwoofer, amplifier and digital remote control provides crisp treble, authoritative bass and good clarity. In short, this system is pre-set to rock while you roll on. A lockable glove compartment and multiple upper and lower cockpit side panels provide ample room for storage of wakeboards and whatnot.
Those along for the ride will no doubt appreciate the twin bucket seats equipped with flip-up thigh-rise bolsters, sliders and swivel functions. Additional seating is found up in the deep, open bow lounge. The port and starboard jump seats with the ubiquitous cup holders round out the seating chart. There's even an optional seating plan with a sun pad that has a flip-up backrest for the ultimate in luxurious sun and fun inaction.
Compared to similar boats from this class, the Sea Ray 230 Select is a breeze to board. A well-placed grab handle attached to the integral, extended swim platform simply demonstrates that the designers were thinking things through thoroughly. The final piece of the layout puzzle comes in the form of a handy refreshment center fitted with a built-in ice chest and special space for the standard carry-on cooler. Stocking these units with the appropriate bevies is your concern, of course.
As with every 2008 Sea Ray, the 230 Select comes with a full membership in the Sea Ray Owners Club, where you receive discounts on travel, hotels, dining, boating insurance and more. You can even earn points toward a discount on your next new Sea Ray.
All in all, there is a lot to like about the fresh Sea Ray 230 Select. It offers the ideal layout. It boasts a fine array of user-friendly features. And when you push the throttle, this motorboat's got strength, stability and, some might say, moxie. Heads turn for moxie.
