SEA RAY® CELEBRATES THE HOLIDAYS BY GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY
Published on Dec. 21st 2020
Sea Ray is embracing community this holiday season by supporting two local nonprofit organizations, the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital and The Good Shepherd Center of Madisonville. After a year of high demand for recreational boating and increased boat sales due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the brand wanted to ensure it was delivering unrivaled support to the local community and aiding those in need.
“It’s very important to us and our employees that we help out our community that has given us so much, especially when many people have had a challenging year due to the pandemic,” said Kellie Hood, director of human resources for Sea Ray.
On Dec. 3, Sea Ray donated more than $4,000 to the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital during their Radio for Kids Day fundraiser. Every year, Children's Hospital's Radio for Kids gives people in East Tennessee an opportunity to help children they know and love – children who live in their neighborhoods and attend local schools. At this year’s event, more than $102,000 was raised with the help of Sea Ray and local sponsors.
Nov. 19–Dec. 15, Sea Ray employees enjoyed a friendly competition for a cause during The Good Shepherd Food Drive Department Challenge. The employees from the Sea Ray Tellico Manufacturing Facility in Vonore were invited to compete as a department to gather the greatest number of non-perishable food items. The winning team was announced this week, with Fabrication, Shipping & Warehouse donating nearly 1,200 items. The more than 2,200 total goods collected during the food drive will be donated to The Good Shepherd Center to provide meals to residents of Monroe County who are in immediate financial crisis and have experienced sudden or unexpected hardships.
“The Good Shepherd Food Drive Department Challenge was launched during our Sea Ray Seas & Greetings holiday campaign as a way to give back to the community, during a time when we know local families need it most,” said Steve Langlais, Sea Ray president. “Congratulations to the Fabrication, Shipping & Warehouse team. We are impressed by their level of dedication and commitment, as well as the engagement and participation from all our departments.”
