The Models Showcase Ultimate Versatility to Deliver Adventure Without Compromise
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 10, 2024) — Sea Ray is launching the next chapter of its exhilarating SDX Series with the debut of the SDX 270 and SDX 270 Surf. Available in sterndrive and surf configurations, the new SDX 270 models accommodate a wide range of on-water activities in a 27-ft. package. The yacht-certified vessels offer large social zones, powerful propulsion, substantial storage and premium amenities. Designed for entertaining, watersports and everything in between, the versatile SDX 270 and SDX 270 Surf are well-appointed for all-day adventure.
“The SDX 270 and SDX 270 Surf are the latest boats in our lineup to receive a keel-up redesign, and the first SDX models crafted with our next-generation design language,” said Keith Yunger, Sea Ray president. “Also, the SDX 270 Surf is the first surf addition to our SDX Series. Built for maximum enjoyment, the vessels offer lots of space and storage, and premium amenities and features to keep families entertained for hours on the water.”
Aboard the SDX 270, the layout has been optimized with ample seating, open spaces and thoughtful touches. The cockpit is the epitome of comfort with L-shaped bench seating, flexible configurations, an integrated cooler compartment, USB outlets, and convenient options can include a table and inductive charging stations. The cockpit’s wide and roomy layout also conceals useful storage areas, such as a board storage compartment under the bench seat that keeps boards secure when not in use. Above the cockpit, the electric-folding watersports tower, standard on the surf variation and optional on the sterndrive model, provides protection from the elements and features elevated tow points for wakesurfing or wakeboarding. The tower can be lowered or raised for convenient storage, and optional tower speakers and board racks can be added.
Showcasing considerable room to spread out, the oversized bow promotes relaxation. The space offers generous lounge-style seating, a bow ladder and an additional integrated cooler compartment to store drinks and snacks. With the Comfort Bundle, the bow can be enhanced with a table and a filler cushion that converts the spot into a sunpad. The bow can also be upgraded with a manual bow sunshade and a windlass is available with the Anchor Bundle.
At the transom, the convertible sunpad presents a spot to leisurely bask in the sun. The sunpad backrest folds down to extend the area, and the adjacent optional Fusion® remote places stereo controls close by. Providing easy reboarding after swimming, the broad swim platform offers a concealable ladder and manual submersible step, optional on the sterndrive variation and standard on the surf boat. The transom also features a ski tow eye attachment to connect watersports riders and an in-floor compartment with drainage for stowing wet gear and lines.
The SDX 270 models include a standard starboard compartment that can be used to store life jackets, towels and other bulky items. Facilitating longer days on the water, the space can be upgraded with the Water System Bundle to a head complete with a sink and countertop. There is also an option to transform the compartment with cushions into a hang out area for kids. Additionally, across from the starboard compartment is a finished portside cubby providing even more storage.
At the helm, there are a variety of advanced features and technologies for effortless control. The helm is equipped with a Digital Dash, showcasing a standard 9″ Simrad® NSX® touchscreen display (dual 9″ NSX displays are standard on the surf variation) and Mercury Marine® SmartCraft® Connect for simplified engine monitoring. Other highlights include Active Trim control and monitoring and an optional inductive charging station. The windshield is curved for improved visibility, and the oversized helm seat has a movable backrest that converts it from a forward-facing to aft-facing seat. For additional seating flexibility, the port companion seat also converts from forward-facing to aft-facing. The port dash houses the Fusion RA210 stereo head unit for audio entertainment, and an area under the port dash can be used to stow a carry-on cooler.
Delivering superior performance, the SDX 270 is powered by a standard 300-horsepower Mercury® MerCruiser® 6.2L engine with a Bravo Three® drive, SmartCraft technology and Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS) controls. Exhibiting an innovative wakesurfing system, the SDX 270 Surf is propelled by a standard 350-horsepower MerCruiser 6.2L engine with a forward-facing Bravo Four S® drive, contra-rotating props, SmartCraft technology and DTS. The forward-facing drive enables the boat for wakesurfing and improves maneuverability when docking or traveling at low speeds.
Enticing thrill seekers, the SDX 270 Surf is outfitted with an intuitive surf system that generates repeatable, rideable waves for wakesurfing and other watersports. The vessel’s transom is tapered to produce a clean wave while electric surf tabs, Active Trim and three ballast tanks featuring 1,900 lbs. of ballast control the height of the wave and produce a long or short pocket. The boat is also equipped with a Sea Ray custom surf interface powered by Mercury Smart Tow® featuring three pre-set modes for surfing, wakeboarding and skiing/tubing, or boaters can use the visual display to adjust the settings with the touch of a button to accommodate riders of all skill levels.
Available as an upgrade exclusive to the SDX 270 Surf, boaters can select the Highline Appearance Package. The package offers a sporty, one-of-a-kind exterior color scheme with black side accents as well as special interior upholstery stitching and SeaDek® flooring pattern enhancements. In addition, boaters can choose to upgrade their SDX 270 or SDX 270 Surf to match their needs with popular option Bundles.
From dock hopping to wakesurfing, the SDX 270 and SDX 270 Surf present the ultimate in versatility, delivering capacity, comfort and capability in one package. Designed to maximize every moment, the vessels are the perfect companion for wherever the day leads.
